Summer Must Haves (Horse)

FF Summer Horse Must Haves

Fashion, Function, and Fun are the three factors we kept in mind when coming up with our Summer Must Haves for Horses. We think these products will help you and your horse make the most of your summer.

Fly Mask(s)

They come in various shapes, sizes, and colours and are an essential must have for horses in the summer months. Available from various brands and retailers, most local tack shops will have one to fit your horses needs as well as your sense of style. These mesh masks are typically light and breathable, and will help to keep off those bothersome bugs while also providing some UV protection.

My Barn Child Bridle, Braid & Boot Charms;  My Barn Child

My Barn Child produces jewellery “that’s both hunter classy & jumper sassy”. They’ve got charms for every taste and style, with inspirational messages or fun shapes (crowns, butterflies, bows, etc) you can adorn your horses tack, braids, or even your own equipment with. Infuse a bit of bling and sass into your style this summer. They’ve also got some adorable ear phone dust caps for your cellphone!

Fly Repellent, Absorbine® EX Insecticide & Repellent & Farnam Bronco® Equine Fly Spray

Flies are a constant problem in the summer, and most riders know that it’s hard to keep your horse happy when they spend most of their day swatting away those bothersome bugs. While there are many varieties and brands of fly sprays on the market, we’ve had some direct experience with both Absorbine and Farnam Fly sprays in the past. While these days no Fly spray seems to be 100% effective, both these brands have their benefits.

Fresh Water, Snacks, & Some TLC

Perhaps the most simple and satisfying summer products for your horse are cheap and easy to provide. Fresh water, snacks (carrots, apples, and krunch! – or any of your horses other favourite tasty treats), and some TLC will keep your horse happy and in peak performance over the summer months. Not to mention, spending some downtime with your horse not only helps build up the horse/rider bond, but its a great way to de-stress and kill some time when it’s simply too hot to ride.
