Absolutely Scrumptious – Apple-Oats Slices
My name is Alexandra and I’m the owner-operator of the horse treat business Horscotti. I’ve always had this knack of baking my own treats and it started with my passion for feeding the difficult horses and ponies treats. Of course Darby (my jumper) was all about whatever he could shove in his mouth, and my first horse, Memphis could have cared less about what he ate. I made these Horscotti treats for my friends critters who turned their nose up at most treats. While I may not be giving you the Horscotti ingredients for those lasting treats for the selective taste buds, I will be more than happy to help you feed your little monsters with more perishable treats that you can make with things you can find around the house.
What You Will Need:
1 Cookie Sheet lined with parchment paper
1 Cup of Large Flake Oatmeal
½ Cup of Honey
Now I’m all about taking recipes and making them your own so there is no need to follow these to the letter. First line your cookie sheet with parchment paper. Next cut your apple into slices, using either an apple slicer or knife (watch the fingers!)
Next you have two options you can drizzle or dip! To make them drizzly lay the apples flat on the parchment paper and drizzle honey over them followed by an oatmeal sprinkle. To do the dip, dip the apple slices into the honey and then into the oatmeal and lay them on the parchment to dry.
Place these treats in the fridge for an hour for the honey to solidify a bit so you can pack them into a container. Serve these treats to your princess or prince same day or next day and enjoy!
*To prevent the apples from browning squirt some lemon juice over the slices.
