Issue No.6 – Hunterrific
The Wonders of the Hunter Discipline

Are you a hunter rider, amateur or professional, or just have a love for the hunter discipline? Then we want to hear from you.

Our April 2014 issue is going to be all about the hunter discipline, with articles about the sport, stories from riders, interviews with professionals, and so much more!

Now, until March 16th, we are accepting submissions of articles, photography, personal stories, and interviews from individuals, all about the hunter discipline.

Details of materials we are accepting for this issue, as well as submission guidelines can be found below.

Feature articles

Feature articles should not exceed 3000 words and length and should be a minimum of 1500. Subject matter is optional but should tie into the theme of the issue. All images included should include the photographers name, and where applicable a note of permission for publication from the owner.


All images should be clear, feature safe riding and horsemanship practices and be at least 300 dpi. They should match the theme of the issue and can feature riders in competition or at home. Photographic submissions should include the name of the photographer, the subjects name, the horse’s name, and owner (where appropriate).

Personal stories

Whether you are a professional or amateur rider, we want to hear your stories. Your experiences in clinics, while showing, or simply some of the learning curves you’ve encountered during your training – anything is possible.

Articles should not exceed 1000 words and should be a minimum of 250. Images included in the piece should follow our standard image submission guidelines.


Interviews with industry professionals at all levels are welcome and should follow the guidelines set out for featured articles, as noted above.

Training articles

We welcome the submission of training articles on the following subjects for this issue:

  • Hunter conformation
  • Showing in the Hunter ring
  • Training for the hunter – ex. Pre-show preparation, jumping exercises, etc.

All submissions should be emailed as a MS Word or .rtf attachment to theeloquentequine@gmail.com and should be labeled in the subject line as “Submission – Issue No. 6” and specify which type of submission it is (photography, feature article, interview, etc.)


For this issue we are offering free full colour banner ads for local equestrian businesses and barns. Advertisements should be emailed to theeloquentequine@gmail.com and be labelled in the subject line as “Ad submission – Issue No. 6” and should include your business’s name.

Submissions must also adhere to the following guidelines:

Ad specifications:

  • All ads must be submitted in PDF, jpeg, or png format
  • Ads must have the following dimensions
    • 1/2 Page Ad: 8.5″ x 5″ (Horizontal) OR 5″ x 11″ (Vertical) [L x W]
    • 1/4 Page Ad: 4″ x 5″ [L x W]
    • Note: There are a select few openings for FULL PAGE (8.5 x 11) advertisements

Qualification for free ad offer:

  • Be a ‘local’ business (independent, non-franchised chain)
